The Shivanasamudra Falls originate from the watercourse of river Kaveri in Karnataka State of India. A small village by the same name is the home of these falls. The falls have a total height 322 feet and have two drops by the name Gaganachuki and Bharachuki. It is a segmented waterfall. There are several ancient temples in the vicinity of the falls. Asia's second Hydro Electric Power Station is operational at the waterfall and still generates electricity. In the olden days the power was used in the Kolar gold fields. This made Kolar the second city after Darjeeling and second town in Asia to get Hydro Electricity.
