The Perseid Meteor Showers derives its name because of their origin which lies in the constellation perseus. In the Greek language and mythology it refers to the Suns of perseus. The Perseid cloud orbits and stretches along a comet named Swift tuttle. The shower is basically a cloud of particles scattered by the comet during its travel on a 133 year orbiting period. The Chinese had discovered this meteor shower as early as 36 AD; however it was Adolphe Quetlet who first mentioned of this phenomena in 1835.
