The name Sossusvlei originates from various languages and means dead-end marsh. Vlei in Afrikaans language means marsh, and sossus is Nama for no return or dead end. Sossusvlei is drainage basin without outflows for the passing Tsauchab River.Sossusvlei is one the most snapped locations in the Subsaharan Africa.
